Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Sep 01 2025

More soulful than I expected, my first trip hop listen I think

Sep 02 2025

Didn't expect to like it this much, already want to re-listen, cool to hear the difference in a Freddie Mercury song and a Brian May song, more rock forward than their other over-the-top glitzy stuff later on which I appreciate, but also not too hard

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Sep 03 2025

Not sure how much I like dark synth, might grow on me with repeated listens

Blackstar by David Bowie
Sep 04 2025

A very discordant Bowie, I think I like the second half more than the first, not without its catchy moments despite the discordance.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Sep 05 2025

Feels raw and improvisational, like this is the culmination of years upon years of folk music mastery just flowing out effortlessly.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Sep 08 2025

Feels a little like Grammy's bait, but can't deny the excellent craftsmanship put into it. Soulful with what was likely cutting edge rock experimentation that makes it much more interesting. Really more of a 3.5

Ramones by Ramones
Sep 09 2025

Blitzkrieg Bop is an iconic song but on first listen the whole album kinda sounds like it over and over. Listening again and it grows on you and you can hear its influence on later bands. I heard things similar to Horsegirl, who are in turn heavily inspired by 90s bands so I assume that sound is one that has been passed down for a few generations with the Ramones playing a big role in its development.
