Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Sep 05 2025

I have to admit that although I am familiar with most of the songs on this album, I have never listened to it in one sitting. I’m a bit surprised by not only how much I enjoyed it, but also the ways in which it can hear its influence on contemporary artists and the foundation the structure of the album creates for artists who later became indie darlings. This album gave me a new appreciation for The Beach Boys and I’m so glad I listened to it in its entirety.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Sep 08 2025

This album was unexpectedly intense. Not “enjoyable” so much as I was taken on a trip. “Rumours” is the only album I think most of us are overly familiar with and while I like to think I grew up with Fleetwood Mac, I most certainly didn’t grow up with this album.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Sep 09 2025

I was already familiar with this album from when I was an overwrought teen. (Thanks Sethers) I haven’t listened to it for a long time, so it was nice to hear it as an adult. It’s not exactly a banger in the way I think of albums that are exciting, but I did enjoy it.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Sep 10 2025

This album was a surprise to me, mostly because I had just never listened to it. I really appreciated the story the album told across the length of the album. I tend toward pop, rock, and folk music, it just never occurred to me to listen to this album or that I would like it as much as I have. I’m so glad I didn’t skip this one.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen

Elevator music in its purest form.

Eliminator by ZZ Top

Not a massive fan of ZZTop. I get why people like them but they are just fine.
