1001 Albums Summary

My first listen and impression of this album gave me mixed feelings on many of the songs of album. However, after doing more research on the album I doing that it was produced entirely by Kate Bush herself which cleared up a lot of the questions. Producing an album entirely is impressive in itself but you can see the artistic and uniqueness of Kate Bush in each song of the album. After a second listen, the album grew on me as I was able to actually listen and understand each song. Though not one of Kate’s more popular albums, you can see that she was ahead of her time when she released this album.

Reading other reviews, people either love this album or hate it. I personally enjoyed the chaotic nature and mixture of different parts of each song. I can understand how it’s not to everyone’s liking but would not call it bad.

Classic album that really shows what disco is all about from the 70s. The album has great instrumentalists and vocals all around. I really enjoyed the band and clarity in almost every song. However, many of the songs seem to drag out longer they should with plenty of repetition. As like many, I was familiar with their song “Le Freak” but it was good to go through the album and become more familiar with the band. My favorite song on the album would probably be “Savoir Faire” which gives more jazz vibes than anything.

Amazing album with very funky jazz and politically charged lyrics. My favorite part of this list is listening to new artists and discovering their music. This is one of the artists, especially with the impact he has on so many people.

Dark and moody album. I was not that interested in the album and probably wouldn’t listen again. I felt it was a little lacking but picked up in the end. Favorite song: A Forest

I have never heard of Dusty Springfield before this album and I knew I would love this one from the first song. Her voice is beautiful, warm, and unique. I love the instrumentals and backing vocals that really make up each song. I really enjoy listening to female artists and am really glad to add Dusty to my playlist.
