The Genius Of Ray Charles
Ray CharlesBeautiful and moving. I was not familiar with your game, Ray.

Best thing I can say about it is it’s unique and interesting. Hated the production, sounded like a wall of crunchy sound. A bit nu-punk? Wouldn’t listen again, maybe one song I enjoyed most of.
Such a complete album. So many great songs beyond “No Woman No Cry.” It’s easy to zone out and just enjoy but listening to the lyrics, they’re deep and talk of inequality, oppression, happiness in light of poverty, loving one another as children of Jah, love, importance of embracing your culture, etc. This wasn’t on my radar before but it’s such an incredible album.
I mean, it was good. I think it’s just not for me. I do enjoy their album CSN (1977), so I thought I’d like this one but I just got bored. Few good songs on it, but at this time in my life, none I’d replay.

I love Bowie but I’ve never actually listened to this entire album. It was so good, I’m disappointed I hadn’t listened to it earlier. 5 outta 5
Really good album. Can’t say a whole lot more than that. I couldn’t really connect to it 100%, maybe another time in my life.
Really good, might have been better if I wasn’t listening on the free version of Spotify because there were ads between the songs. Regardless, this one would probably still be a four to me just based on the absolute classics I had leading up to this one.
This album infuriated me. Rhyme scheme be damned, this dude just said random things in a Brit pop voice. I almost gave it a 2 at one point but I wouldn’t ever put this back on.
I could tell it was probably ground breaking at the time and I’m giving it a 2 out of respect but I didn’t enjoy listening to this much.
I want to rate it a five but it’s a four. the first four songs are masterpieces, the next two songs are OK, the last two are meh.
I don’t know how to explain it but this was good enough but some of the production and song structure just doesn’t age well. Some good tracks on here though. Didn’t blow me away or anything. It’s a product of the early 90’s speaking on topics very much still relevant but not as easily digestible as something like Straight Outta Compton
I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. Ton of variety of sounds. Really great album.
Never actually listened to this one start to finish but Jesus Christ… so so so good. Not only does it have a lot of the big name songs but songs like wasted time (& the reprise), pretty maids, try and love again would all be singles on a different album—not to be overshadowed by HC, New kid, and fast lane. Plus the way last resort ends the album is so moving. Insane that this is one album. Love the song arrangement and the way the songs all fit together. 100/5
Honestly, largely forgettable. Love Golden Years, the rest of the songs are enjoyable but uninspiring.
Good but unremarkable in my opinion.
Definitely interesting and I like the industrial percussion but it was just too downbeat and depressing for me to enjoy
