A Short Album About Love by The Divine Comedy
Sep 08 2025

I’ll always have a soft spot for Neil Hannon purely because he wrote the Father Ted theme. This album didn’t really grab me but it was enjoyable enough. Favourite song: If I Were You (I’d Be Through With Me)

The Specials by The Specials
Sep 09 2025

I already knew a few of the songs going in but wasn’t sure I’d enjoy a full album of theirs. It really grew on me as it went on - ended up listening to it twice. It must have been so exciting to be a part of this scene as it was emerging. Favourite song: Too Much Too Young

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Sep 11 2025

Really enjoyed this one. Listened to it twice. A band with one foot in the past and the other in the future. It’s clear how influential their sound has been to lots of artists that came after. Favourite track: Waiting for the Sun

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Sep 12 2025

JC sounds great but his music takes a backseat on this record and you get a real sense of the man himself. Charismatic, irreverent, compassionate and funny.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Sep 14 2025

It’s easy to see why this album was their breakthrough into the mainstream. Imaginative and experimental instrumentation while maintaining strong and catchy songs.

Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Sep 19 2025

Can’t deny VM’s talent but I found myself a bit bored listening to this.
