Good ole rhythm and blues, Elvis fan since ‘08 - Solid album, still have other faves by him but overall good variety (rip)
Eh not my favorite, I like the instrumental grunge feel in ze background. BUT, all the songs kinda blend together and there’s no bangers. Like zero bangers?? I need at least one banger. And I got zero! Good background listening music tho. A+ for the album art animation on Spotify when listening it.
This album makes me want to find a woman named Susan, go to her house, and hide in the bushes. Bonus points for mentioning 7/11. I like how each song is distinct and it doesn’t just blend into one like the last album on here. Flower had a dope instrumental track. I also enjoy how this lowkey has some love songs going on. I think this album did a great job at creating fun sounding instrumental tracks with unique/whacky lyrics. However, did not feel like saving any to Spotify. Will be playing Beautiful Freak and Be My Monster at my wedding.
I love a good 70s rock vibe but AGAIN nothing really stood out to me. A lot of the songs sounded the same and I did not save any to Spotify. I honestly would have thought this was just one long 39 minute song. It reminds me of the songs on the ps2 Tony Hawk game, so if that was the vibe they were going for - nailed it. HOLDUP I actually dig the song Police and Thieves, finally it had a different sound than the rest but why is it 6 minutes long bruh wrap it upppp.
Ok I need some variety, this is yet again ANOTHER album where each song sounds the same. Here Comes The Summer is a light hearted/fun song I’d play on the Fourth of July but likeeee early on in the day when setting stuff up. Not good enough for the actual hot dog/pickle eating festivities. A lot of the songs have the same chord progression and style where I could not differentiate much between songs. BUT, I slightly like the more summer vibe of this album than Joy Division and The Clash. My favorite song was Casbah Rock because it was 50 seconds.
I personally think some of these albums would receive higher ratings if they were not on back to back days of each other. I feel I should just copy and paste my last review because it’s the same sentiment - no variety within the album or songs. What I enjoy more about the EELS album is a mixup of tempo - like give me a few slow songs on this album and rating would skyrocket. Alas, I’m not seeing much difference here with this boi. Album art is dope as hell tho - would rather sit in silence for 1 hour looking at this album cover then actually listen to it again. What language was the last song in - like alien?
Definitely loved how it was a departure from the last albums we listened to. I absolutely loved the back tracks/instrumentals but then that man started weird talking whispering on it…?? And every track? Got old very fast, if they had a legitimately good singer on this album it would’ve been amazing. I love how the instrumentals were a variety of styles and were beautiful/sad simultaneously. Temptation of Egg fucked heavy.
Okkkkk now this is what I’m taukin about, I loved this! There were so many different styles at play throughout this album - loved the almost Wild West vibe in the first song. This album was easy listening soft rock vibe and exactly what I had been wanting to hear with older albums from the 70s/80s. My personal favorite song on the album was Bonny - lead vocals on point, reverberated background singers awesome, and chill ass backtrack. The acoustic part of the album also 1000/10, extremely well done👏🏼👏🏼
Funky vibe but just overall……very odd. A few of the songs had instruments that sounded similar to a boat horn. Faith Healer - Sounded like they saw a sound machine near a dumpster and decided to give it a roll in the studio. Giddy Up a Ding Dong sounded almost like Jailhouse Rock by Elvis. Seriously what in the hell is this? Next - This is giving broadway musical song where the rat looking man has his solo revenge song. Anyone know what a Vambo is?
Thought this album was a good switch up in genre from the previous albums we have had. The overall vibe was chill and enjoyable to listen to. I actually liked the samples/played in between songs. It Was a Good Day - Classic song and most best part of the album.
