Thank god I didn't grow up in the 80s.
Not too familiar with this sound but it grew on me as I listened. Love her voice. Love her songwriting style, even if all the songs didn't land. The Ballad of Lucy Jordan is a banger. Second half kinda dragged. Still a good album.
Fun album but a little monotonous. A long 35 minutes. The organ is probably my favorite instrument but there's a reason it's a supporting character.
It's a 70s Joni Mitchell album so of course I liked it. The middle is a little cruise controly, but still a really good album.
Banger. Listened to it in high school and didn't really get it but I've seen the light. New Dawn Fades is incredible.
Great singer/songwriter album. I wish she took some more chances with the production, but I liked it!
Thank god I didn't grow up in the 80s.
Great musicianship and a fun time but I don't think any blues song needs to be more than five minutes long.
She has a beautiful voice but these songs weren't very interesting.
Yeahhh this deserves the "one of the best albums ever" acclaim. Damn near perfect until the last two songs.
She's one of the best vocalists ever. Every recording of her's is a treasure.
80s cheese done well. Just What I Needed is incredible.
It was cool. I expected some more charisma from Meth.
I've listened to this album twice before and thought it was bad both times. They kinda sold me this time. But not all the way. There are still moments when they sound like the shitty basement band at a college house party. But I've also been randomly saying "Your bone's got a little machiiiiiiine" all day. Good album.
Incredible album. At least 30% of it is really depressing but at the end I always think, "That was a lot of fun, let's do it again." It's not perfect and kind of drags at times but I don't care. It's one of my favorite artists ever right at the beginning of his peak. Play 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' at my funeral.
It's Dark Side of the Moon.
I fear I may be a Frank Zappa guy now. Devastating
Overall a fun time. The title track is one of my absolute favorite songs. I would've preferred more high-energy tracks like that to the Bowie pastiche songs, which kinda killed the vibe of the album. Iggy Pop is cool and charismatic enough, why he felt the need to rip off another cool guy is beyond me. This came out in 1977, which was the year that punk really took off via the Ramones and Sex Pistols. I wish Iggy leaned more into that, given how he was one of the forefathers of punk.
What a beautiful album. A RYM classic for a reason
