Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Sep 26 2025

I just don’t get this band. They could be anyone. Solidly produced but just not special or interesting.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Sep 29 2025

Forever an iconic snapshot. The Legacy Edition includes clips from the interactions between these jazz legends during the studio takes. The downside to this album is that I have heard these songs so much that they have lost some of the magic for me. But that does not diminish this album's importance in music history.

Live! by Fela Kuti

The birthplace of Afrobeat!

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Oct 01 2025

Her songs have a retro late doo-wop-adjacent 50s/soul R&B 60s sound and style. She has a lovely and distinctive voice. Apparently, this is among the best selling albums of all time and she won numerous Grammys and other awards. I suppose for this reason, it is worth a listen, but I am really not into it.

This may be the most boring music I have ever heard. How did this win a Grammy? Where is the musical innovation?

The Stooges by The Stooges
Oct 03 2025

Primitive, raw, fuzzed out guitar. The antithesis to the pop and blues based bands of the time. Proto-punk rock. Experimental sounds.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Oct 06 2025

I am from Seattle, from which this band hails, and I have never heard of them. To me, this is over-produced indie folk pop and I feel like folk music should be more authentic and raw. What can I say - this just doesn’t speak to me.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Oct 07 2025

Much nostalgia for when these were hits during the disco era. Apparently I only heard the dance remixes back then because the songs had a lot more complexity, strings, horns on the album than in my memory. Kinda like if the Supremes decided to put out a disco album.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Oct 08 2025

Tight vocal harmonies, sludgy bass lines, overdriven guitar. The evolution of grunge.

Just no. For something to be considered “music” there needs to be structure. This is 40 minutes of a high school wind ensemble warming up.

Technique by New Order
Oct 10 2025

This album made me want to research their evolution from joy division to the more mature sound of this album.
