This was really good, not that it surprised me being a classic rap album and all. In the end it felt like it had a positive message behind it, especially supported by "Express Yourself" 8/10
I went into this album having heard Back in Black the song, but I was not expecting the rest of the album. best way I could describe it is that it feels like the musical version of being wine drunk off a good red; bold, unapologetic, classy and sappy
It was hard to find a reason to love the album. that’s not to say I hated it by any means, it was just sort of a generic rock/alt rock album
Always wanted to give the Smashing Pumpkins a try, you hear their name around and their music places. I wasn’t wowed, but it was good! there was a mix of softer and harder songs, interesting album
This album felt like a breath of fresh air. very light and playful, I enjoyed to layers of guitar, bass, and synth. while the content of the songs were also a little sappy…
It was so good! first half is like a “greatest hits” sort of, lots of bangers to get white people excited. although some of the later songs did surprise me; I was a big fan of ‘Andy, you’re a star’
I really only recognized “Fast Car” off the track list and that is unfortunately because of a country singer so I was apprehensive going in; but Tracy Chapman was just a phenomenal album as i’m sure she is a phenomenal person. it was clear from the first few songs that she is a huge advocate for black and women’s rights. it ended up being an absolute blast to listen to
This is the album I have engaged with the least. I get the idea, they’re very loud, in your face and well, political. which is good! but the way it is presented really is not for me. that being said I see some foundations for bands such as the Dropkick Murphy’s so it gets extra points there
I sort of knew going into this I wouldn’t like it whether that swayed my opinion or not i’m unsure, but I know I don’t really like Kendrick’s style and flow, that’s where it just didn’t hit for me
I think I figure out why I am not a big fan of Smith, it’s his voice. he has a breathy, wispy tone 90% of the time which I just cannot get past
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! you can definitely see the foundations of a lot of musical overlap being laid, with the rock/jazz/funk combo.
I liked it! I mean it wasn’t anything special for me, but it was good.
Nothing I am particularly fond of, but it was groovy enough and felt as though there was a lot of emotion behind it
Really solid! There are some jams on here I would definitely listen to again
Enjoyable and unique, the style has many different influences. I enjoyed this one, might throw it on again
The very soft tone throughout many of the songs renders it hard to hear the vocals clearly at times; however, I think that is part of the purpose, as it serves the themes of woman-hood and lost loves
Not really a country fan, so can’t say I will listen to it again, however it was very clear the message about growing up in poverty, and all the thanks she had to give to her momma
