They lowkey cooked up the whole conscious hip hop thing ( or at least made it popular ). Sections of the album definitely sound aged, but the flows are way too good for the '80s. I don't really want to write a full review because lsimdog got it covered. Top 3 tracks, in order, Black Steel Bring the Noise Rebel Without a Pause I'd put it in the 9.4-9.7 range (Flavor Flav sounds like he could be westide gunn's dad)
Excellent album at its peak, but struggles synergistically, and honestly falls off toward the end. Brighton Rock is by far my favorite track. Top 3 Brighton Rock Flick of the Wrist Now I'm here She makes me (stormtrooper something), and dear friends really annoy me Freddie is a woke king 7.7-8.0
Definitely got some great tracks, but this was the groups third album and they didn’t switch it up at all. Kind of clip-farming in a way, it’s good but short and simple and so i’m lowkey feeling a 3. Ima be basic my favorite tracks were green river and bad moon rising
This was a hard listen for me for some reason, i just don’t mess with most of the songs on here especially the starting few. A 2 is probably harsh but my enjoyment level was that low. Favorite track: Getting in tune
i ain’t really gotta say much Top 3 Family Business Two Words Never let me down 10 🐐
I been on this for a while so this reviews gonna be a bit sweatier. Tracklist Review Tier 1 — Elite • Pictures of Me • Between the Bars • Cupid’s Trick • Say Yes Tier 2 — Good • Big Ballad of Nothing • No Name Number 5 • Rose Parade • Punch and Judy • 2:45 AM Tier 3 — Mid • Speed Trials • Alameda Elliot Smith’s pretty definitive magnum opus. It’s the only folk album I could compare to Carrie and Lowell. His sound is so distinct, it’s hard to describe. The songwriting has both a poetic and raw, unfiltered side to it, and the contrast works perfectly. The acoustics are amazing, but more importantly, his voice comes through so immaculately at almost all times. The soft delivery, along with the layering and occasional reverb, is CINEMA. I wouldn’t say the album is perfect, as it comes through a little inconsistent, but the highs are so high and the lows don’t go very low. I’d go in the 9.4–9.7 range.
