Wow I grew to really love this. I think I like the first half (every track from The One You Love to This Love Affair) a bit better than the second half, but maybe that's just a product of listening order and frequency. The classical influence is really satisfying.

I loved Kid and Brass in Pocket on first listen and already Up the Neck, Space Invader, Stop Your Sobbing, and Lovers of Today are growing on me. Precious and Private Life are impressive a bit theater-kid creepy. I especially like the occasional flatness of the lead singer’s voice and the ascending chimes in the chorus of Brass in Pocket.

I didn't like their sound at first; I think I really struggle with the organ as an instrument in anything but like, church music, because there's just something that feels hokey about it when removed from the religious context, but I tried to be open-minded and relisten a couple of times. And then it did grow on me! It reminds me a lot of those Near Eastern shops that somehow still exist in Berkeley. I do think I thought of Apocalypse Now when I was listening to The End.
