1001 Albums Summary

Started out with more jangly pop than I expected at first. And then it became something else. I remember a bass-playing friend in the 90s was a fan of Minuteman/Firehose. I can see why - a lot of "cool" bass riffs (that impresses aspiring bass players)( and pounding drums, but lacking in songwriting. The influences ... could come from anywhere – Fela Kuti, funk, new wave, Television. Maybe that's the point but to me it sounds disparate and not cohesive. It's quite hard to see a red thread - a taste and a vision. Just three people making sound, bassplayer and drummer a little too keen to show their abilities. 2/5

I'm an old fan of the Cure, but I guess I prefer it when they do proper pop songs such as Just like heaven. I have zero time for this in my life.
