Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Nov 04 2025

Too 1960s for me - it hasn't really aged well at all!

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Nov 05 2025

First listening - very 1970s, very few tracks rise above their time. "Heaven" is the only one. "Life during wartime" is described as the standout track. Wasn't for me - most of the tracks were very "dirgy" and nothing reached the heights of "Psycho Killer". Gave up after a while.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 06 2025

Good album. Pleasing pared back sound that has aged well with good songs.

Nov 08 2025

Not at all what I expected from a Ray Charles album - it's really a big band/crooner style album. Not my bag. Far too much schmalzy strings and 1940s big band stuff.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Nov 11 2025

Great album. Probably better than Exodus. Timeless tunes and each song melds into the next - like a great jazz album. I don't think you would tire of listening to this easily.

Da Capo by Love
Nov 12 2025

Over rated 1960s crap.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Nov 15 2025

It's not terrible, but it's dreary and very 1990s.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Nov 17 2025

Great album which brings back many happy memories of my first year at university.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Nov 18 2025

Not into gansta rap I'm afraid, so did absolutely nothing for me.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Nov 20 2025

I wasn’t a fan of Depeche Mode first time round. Time hasn’t changed that. The songs are simplistic, the tunes aren’t memorable, the voice is plain. Sorry.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Nov 22 2025

Brilliant album. Not quite as good as “Kind of Blue” in my opinion though. It has big band sounds, but is demonstrably moving on from that genre. It does sound a little bit dated (which shows how innovative Kind of Blue really was, still sounding fresh after more than sixty years) and more of its time than later recordings.

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Nov 23 2025

Shite.

Fun House by The Stooges
Nov 24 2025

Can understand why it's an important album, but I don't like it. Songs don't amount to much, musicianship is minimal. I guess they're really a live band and you had to be there!

Nov 25 2025

Great album. Very similar to Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” - similar sound and social undertones to the lyrics.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Nov 26 2025

OK if you like American punk, which I don’t.

OK by Talvin Singh
Nov 27 2025

Interesting album, but I think the only reason it's on this list is that it's different, not because it's great.

Rio by Duran Duran
Nov 29 2025
Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Dec 02 2025

This is a really interesting album and showcases a wide range of musical style. On the high temp rock tracks eg Immigrant Song, it's amazing how powerful a unit drums and base are. On other more bluesy tracks eg since I've been loving you, lead guitar is fantastic. This is one of the few albums in rock history that is highly rated by the critics because of the boundaries that are challenged, that I like!

Bad Company by Bad Company
Dec 05 2025

Great album, but not as good quite as good as Straight Shooter.

Dec 06 2025

Great album. Remember buying both this and Out of Time on CD. Listening again, I think I slightly prefer Out of Time - I know the critics rave about this album, but there we are.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Dec 07 2025

I wasn’t a big Bowie fan 40 years ago. When he died and all his music was being played on the radio, it made me think that there was more to Bowie than I had thought. I didn’t like this album much though. Jean jeanie is a classic, but even that is a bit dirgie. So, not a great album for me.

Blue Lines by Massive Attack

Nowhere by Ride
Dec 10 2025

Total crap I’m afraid.

Very by Pet Shop Boys
Dec 12 2025

Never been a fan of the Pet Shop Boys. A few good hits, but not the type of music one can listen to track after on an album.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Dec 13 2025
Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Dec 14 2025

It's OK. Red Hot Chili Peppers' music is fine, but a bit gamey.
