The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Nov 05 2025

I've never heard of this album or artist, released the year I was born. The first track repeats, "we are the robots," when only now (47 years later) I'm being served digital ads for in-home robots that will wash my dishes. To say Kraftwerk was ahead of its time, is an understatement. Pleased to learn this is primarily where the contemporary electronic, low-fi type jams I enjoy today, originated with these German artists. Not sure I could listen to this again, though.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Nov 06 2025

Never listened to this entire album. Enjoyed every song. Coming of age in the 90s I didn't realize how lucky we were to experience such an onslaught of female artists, with alanis leading the way in hard rock. Was there any other solo female artists doing this before she hit the scene? Joan Jett? Pat Benetar? But this is a clear departure in themes, lyrical quality, and vocal awareness. Her voice is stunning on those high notes. She has an incredible range I never noticed before. Excellent!

Marquee Moon by Television
Nov 07 2025

This was cool. The title track is a journey. Buckle up.

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Nov 10 2025

Didn't want to listen to this because of Kanye's, make that Ye's, politics and behavior. But f that. This album is damn good. His talent is undeniable. Rich, profound lyrics and genres including from rap, hip hop, and soul on one album. Tremendous vocal collabs. This is a winner.

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Nov 11 2025

"Hey that's the song from dirty dancing!"

The Clash by The Clash
Nov 12 2025

Great energy, so much fun. I personally have always disliked the tempo of The Clash.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Nov 13 2025

Missed the Radiohead craze when it was new. Wanted to love this but it just didn't click.

Lost Souls by Doves
Nov 14 2025

This sounded similar to a lot of the techno lofi beats I listen to today, but I like my beats without lyrics. The doves had lyrics, mostly indiscernible, and that's not my jam. However Rise came on while I was night driving and it put me in a cool cruising trance. Never heard of this band before. There's something here, but I don't know what it is.
