1001 Albums Summary

It was a nicely produced album but I didn't get a sense of the band's style. Solid musicianship, especially the guitars, but I didn't sense any kind of consistency to the album. It seemed more like they recorded a bunch of songs hoping to see what would stick/become a hit. Like using the first album as market research. I couldn't really hear a musician's soul here. It wasn't bad, it just didn't really have anything to say.

I ended up adding Suzanne to my Liked Songs list. But at this point I have to accept that not really liking Cohen is a me problem. I tried!

Was this album recorded onto tape or shoveled onto it? Overwrought and overproduced pop with overused jags of sing-talking-shouting. I am still not entirely sure this wasn't a parody. Good voice, though. Jackie was fun. 2/5

It was okay for some background listening and I ended up adding "Clandestino" to my liked songs, but for the most part I found it very repetitive. Honorable mentions to "Welcome to Tijuana" and "Bongo Bongo."
