Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Dec 11 2025

This is my first review and I'm a little worried about review inflation so that may be coloring the number of stars I give this. Also I'm going to rank these against how well I think they belong on this list. A 3 star great album is still a soildly great album. 5 Stars would go to a work of genius with no flaws. One star would mean I question it's position as great but not necessarily that it's bad. That said, I recognize the importance of this album. It is laying the groundwork for a five star album 14 years in the future. It was one absolutely perfect song (Mother and Child Reunion) and one song I find annoying at best (Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard) and the rest are all range from pretty good to unoffensive. There are great bits to most songs but to me they are flawed breakthroughs pointing to the perfection to come.
