1001 Albums Summary

The atmosphere in this album is masterful. And Pictures of You has this Bowie-esque quality that’s also in Heros that I classically love so much. The first 10 seconds aren’t hooks, but they establish the tone of the song so well that I want to stay and listen to the whole thing as soon as it’s started. There’s such a strong orchestral feeling to the whole album to the point where I think I’m recognizing motifs from other songs in the instrumental sections. And there are a lot of long instrumental sections.

Not my thing

This album is so cohesive and yet so distinct. I’m really impressed! Muse has a lot more volume and texture than I ever thought they did before.

Some good songs, but the album doesn’t hold up to some of the other great ones on this list

Not really my thing, but great for super 80s vibes

This is such a vibe. The production is like They Might Be Giants mixed with the Beatles. Also feels kinda like XTC but a little poppier? I dig it.
