Purple Rain by Prince
Jan 01 2026

When doves cry is a song I always start off thinking I love and then get bored of by the end, much like this whole album. Perhaps the most interesting part was when I misread "Baby I'm a Star" as "Baby I'm a Slur" which did have me guessing which slur Prince would officially identify with through song

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Jan 03 2026

Look, I know who Miles Davis is so I wasn't surprised by the genre but also dear god this is a hard listen. Maybe I'd get around it if they were playing live and I was on a first date in a dark bar that may or may not let me smoke weed while I sip cocktails, but I cannot listen to this any other time. I couldn't even listen to this for sleep because it'll be all chill and then the horns come screeching in with no warning. I will not be listening again

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Jan 04 2026

quietLOUDquietLOUD for the love of god just set your volume in a certain range and let me actually listen to a song without being unable to hear or having my ears blown out by the sudden volume shift. Dreamer is obviously an absolutely killer song but also not that especially different to anything else on the album. This left me somehow both bored while craving more?

I feel like I've grown up on REM, despite this being released 5 years before I was born. REMs sound has permeated throughout my listening habits, albeit in a more chilled way than the band's they've (at least partially) inspired. With classics like It's The End Of The World As We Know It and The One I Love you really can't go wrong

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jan 06 2026

There's a reason Dre is iconic, and has been beside and behind so many great artists. This is it. Grand Theft Auto would be nothing without this album

Solid Air by John Martyn
Jan 07 2026

Honestly, I was surprised by the range of this album. At the first song I was not hooked, but there are a couple good tunes in there. Not something I'm likely to revisit though

Jan 13 2026

War are a band I've known a couple of hit songs from but wouldn't have thought to listen to a whole album, I'm glad I have now though. Honestly good music to clean to if you're feeling unmotivated and wanna move slow

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jan 14 2026

Didn't immediately catch me. Continued not to catch me. Overall boring

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jan 18 2026

Significantly better than Bitches Brew and exactly what I want from jazz
