1001 Albums Summary

I’m sure at the time of release it really did seem like the band had sold out, but with hindsight you can see how important this album is. Metallica may have made this album more accessible to even non-metal fans, but I don’t think they sacrificed anything in the process. An interesting array of songs and styles with a couple tracks I don’t really care for, otherwise a very enjoyable and cohesive album.

Fantastic album. A wild, loud, and politically charged message with fierce flow and a bit of comedic relief. I thoroughly enjoyed this album and completely understand its importance. Chuck D’s flow is undeniable on this, but the sampling and production is what really elevates it.

To me this is like a greatest hits album. I grew up listening to this album and it helped form my love of hip hop. Big’s rhyming, samples, beats, and flow are just so aggressive and creative. There were a few tracks I didn’t remember too well so hearing this in full again gives it the full effect. The whole album is just littered with great lines.

Not a bad album, but not something I’d find putting on in my free time like Pure Heroin. It’s a departure from that album for sure, as the style is totally different, but coming back and listening to this for the first time years later you can hear Lorde’s evolution.

Solid album, but repetitive. It sounds quite Stonesy sometimes, but overall there’s solid playing and some really good riffs. I don’t think this is a go to album, as I’d rather throw on Sticky Fingers, but again it’s not bad by any means. Of course the most famous track, stay with me, is the best one on the album.

I’m not a big Bowie fan to begin with, and this didn’t change that. I enjoyed the band’s playing, but I couldn’t get into the vocals at all. I found myself listening to a song, going and listening to something else, and then going back and listening to one more and then repeating that process. This was a tougher one for me to get through.

I Fantastic album full of gems, just long, but that’s to be expected. Great features and classic Ghostface flow. Truly is a badass album.
