Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jan 06 2026

Very powerful album. Incredible storytelling through lyrics and the passion and pain of Nina’s raw voice gives life to these lyrics. The overall sound paints vivid memories which the listener may or may not have, while creating a familiar environment where you feel that these stories are your own. 4.5/5 stars

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jan 08 2026

The first half of the album was setting up the story, though I didn’t find it to be remarkable. I’ve never been a huge fan of the layered vocals ELO uses. Once the song ‘Jungle’ comes in, the tone of the album complete changed. The instruments become more layered and the songs become heavier. I believe it was standin’ in the rain that made me question whether this album came out before or after The Wall. I can really see where the inspiration came from. It’s also very much Tommy by The Who in the way there’s almost back and forth conversations occurring whilst the song is being sung. It was a good album, but a slow pace to start. 3.5/5

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Jan 09 2026

bluesy groovy jazzy vibe. An album that you can get lost in while listening to. Each transition of song is a continuation of the previous one, making the album pass by without noticing each song as a unique work, but rather the album is the work as a whole. I do, however, love the feeling it creates of sitting on a porch step, smoking a cigarette, in the Louisiana summer heat. Bayou meets Bourbon Street. 2.6/5 stars

All Directions by The Temptations
Jan 12 2026

Papa was a Rollin Stone, and when be died, this album was born. The pace, the vibe, such a great flow. Starting with a live song was not an ideal choice for me but everything that followed was excellent

Group Sex by Circle Jerks
Jan 14 2026

Short and punchy. Early punk was so effective. It takes this album 15 minutes to achieve what Against Me! requires a double album to pull off. Side note, world up my ass is the prelude to angst in my pants.

Play by Moby
Jan 15 2026

This just became one of my new favourite albums. The journey it takes you on is peaceful, and each song seamlessly blends to the previous. I could get lost for hours listening to this album.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Jan 19 2026

Strange Brew sets the tone for the album, leading into the classic that is Sunshine Of Your Love. The deep guitars and layered vocals throughout give the tone of struggle and release. Ending with Mothers Lament, we get the ending to the story we are waiting for.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Jan 21 2026

Seamless and easy to get lost in. Rush are masters of early hard rock. Listening to this album makes you want to listen to Tommy or The Wall. Get lost in the story for an hour, you’ll never regret it.
