1001 Albums Summary

Good blues based acid rock. Morrison gets a little self indulgent with the poetry bull shit, and the 1 straight blues song is pretty boiler plate, but everything else is great.

Whether you like metal or not, this is a definitive document of NWOBHM. I could do without Red, White, and Blue but that’s just personal preference. Perfect.

This was, for me, truly an exercise in separating “objectively bad” from “I don’t like it”. Technically, this is an amazing album. Peart and Lee are absolute monsters! The musicianship on display here is absolutely top shelf…that’s probably why they keep going on and on and on over and over. For a band whose main draw is drums and bass, I do find it kinda odd that the low end is kinda buried in the mix, but that could be a symptom of the times. All that being said, not for me. I’d sooner drag myself through a salt mine on bloody stumps than listen to this again.

I can not be natural on this as it as an affront to everything rock and roll stands for. No sex, no danger, no sleaze. I am sure there has never been a baby made to this record. If mayonnaise learned some chords and harmonies, this is the music it would make.

Perfect in every way

Completely out of my normal range, but I had a LOT of fun with this. It somehow made me nostalgic for an era I never experienced. Like, I wanna have a cookout in my 1960’s backyard and invite the new neighbors over. Maybe throw our keys in a hat and see what happens.

I don’t get it. Not gonna slander it, but definitely not for me.
