I went in knowing a few of the songs. "Free Bird" is one of those songs that you've heard at least once. The album was very cohesive, each song sounding similar but not too similar that everything sounded the same. I really enjoyed "Tuesday's Gone" and "Mississippi Kid". I would listen to this album again.
"Wah-Wah" guitar solo
When Harrison said "I love dig" I heard something entirely different...
Okay, "Art of Dying"
This was okay in my opinion. There were a few songs I gravitated towards, but I wasn't a fan of everything. I also didn't love the mixing on this album, as it was sometimes hard to hear Harrison, though I know that was probably on purpose.
"The time has come for you... To shoot your leaders down... And join forces underground..." yikes.... Assassins seems too accurate with our time. Muse gives Radiohead vibes. Very theatrical and good lyrics. The album cover is sick. Something about the chord progressions of these songs scratches an itch in my brain.
I rather enjoyed this album. It wouldn't be something I'd listen to on my own accord, but I'm glad I did. It was interesting to hear the other songs on the album that brought Supermassive Black Hole.
Listen, I love Simon & Garfunkel. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" album? One of the best albums out there. "Bookends," on the other hand? What was going on? How can a song like "America" be on the same album as "Save the Life of My Child".... Also, "Voices of Old People" is such a funny name. Like what is that.... I don't know. It had potential, but it just wasn't there for me. Giving it 2 stars because "America" and "Old Friends" are masterpieces.
Ehhhhh it was okay.
The last song was really strange...
Day 6, and this was the first album I had never heard of or didn't know any of the songs. I loved the album's beginning. I thought the "radio broadcast" vibe was really cool and set the mood. After the first 3 songs, I kinda lost interest. Not because it wasn't good, but it isn't a sound I'd normally cling to. With that being said, I think it has some good and catchy songs that anyone would find fun.
Eh, it was okay.
It won't be one I remember or return to, but it was good background music while I worked. It reminded me of the season of fall for some reason.
I wasn't able to listen to this album in its entirity but I listened to the first 3 songs. I definetly see why it is a favorite for folks.
I actually really liked this one! I'm not a huge Johnny Cash fan, but I'm familiar with his music, and this album was sort of chilling since it was the last album released before his death. The spin on the different covers added a uniqueness that I really enjoyed.
It was a pretty good album. I would definitely listen to it again. I think because I listen to these albums while working, I sometimes miss some of the lyrics, and I think this album is really lyric-heavy. The opening song on the album, "The Golden Age," was my favorite. I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could.
The first half of this album was definitely better than the second half in my opinion. But I did love the vibe. I really enjoy old country music.
