Popular Reviews

Not sure I’ve ever heard of Charles Mingus and definitely never heard of this album, but for a ~40-minute-long jazz standard with four tracks it was pretty easy listening. Not sure I’ll ever come back to it but…

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jan 08 2026

This is the Beatles. Obviously it should be a 5* album right? But knowing what was to come makes some of these early covers not quite live up to expectations. Still a great album with so much potential ahead of these lads from Liverpool

Diamond Life by Sade
Jan 09 2026

Not sure I knew much of Sade beyond Smooth Operator but this album of smooth jazz went down smooth. Glad I got introduced to her more than the one hit.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Jan 11 2026

Pixies were just on this week’s Smartless podcast and besides Where Is My Mind, I didn’t know there music at all. I could see being into this had I heard it in the ‘90s and I may come back and revisit this to learn the music better but for now I’ll give it a 4

Berlin by Lou Reed
Jan 13 2026

I really only knew Lou Reed from the Trainspotting soundtrack which had “Perfect Day.” This concept album made me realize he’s not that good of a singer (do concept albums not do second takes?).

Black Metal by Venom
Jan 15 2026

I’m all for finding new music but is it sad that for Venom - Black Metal I’m unsure which is the band and which is the album? Quite possibly the longest hour ever and an audacious start of this project for me... For most of the album I wondered if this site allowed ratings lower than 1* but there were one or two songs that weren’t horrible so I guess 1* will do…

Jan 16 2026

Not sure if the long drawn out pauses between songs are intentional or a bad version on Amazon Music. It is what Eno claimed—as ignorable as it is interesting (at least the first half). Listened to this for the last hour of the workday and not really sure I’d be able to pick it out of an ambient music lineup…

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jan 17 2026

I was actually kinda surprised I didn’t already own this album but all I seem to have is Rearviewmirror and Vs. They debuted with some great songs here overall.

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Jan 18 2026

Listened to this but absorbed nothing. Music sounded ok but not anything I loved or would think of revisiting. I’ve already forgotten the name of the album/band.

Jan 19 2026

Haven’t heard much Wu-Tang music but this album had some decent tracks

Jan 20 2026

Not sure I’ve ever heard of Charles Mingus and definitely never heard of this album, but for a ~40-minute-long jazz standard with four tracks it was pretty easy listening. Not sure I’ll ever come back to it but…

Jan 21 2026

Own this and on relisten bumped up the ratings for most of the songs. Raised the average 0.2 but still only 4.2 Most of the guest artists are better than 50, but it’s probably a good sign so many people wanted to work with him on this album?
