Ex-factor is a great song. Love hearing the sample that Drake used in nice for what. The Guitar toward the end with the beat is very smooth. Carlos Santana guitar is a vibe. Hearing Doo Wop makes me think of early 2000’s and also all the songs that sampled it. Powerful sound, experimental, pioneer, real life stories, struggle, reminiscing, raw talent. This album has a very strong presence of soul and it really moves you. Very strong messages throughout the project. Really enjoyed this listen. I can see why she is a star and why new generations are listening and becoming fans. Definitely would listen to this project again.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Jan 16 2026

Right off the bat, raw vocals and loud. Funky tones and psychedelic vibes. Crazy strings. Turtle blues has a very soulful feel. Feels so raw and emotional. Distorted funky blues. Very unique and original at the time. Janis Joplins voice was insanely powerful and reached out to many people I’m sure. Overall the album was unlike anything I’ve heard before. Definitely not my cup of tea but I can appreciate the art and the music as a whole. The album definitely has a specific group of people who enjoy it. Glad I got to try this genre and hear something new.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Jan 19 2026

The album starts with a very fun, inviting, and funky song in P-Funk. Right off the bat I can tell this album is gonna be a fun listen. Super funky and Vibey 70’s music that will have people dancing, grooving, and partying all night. Handcuffs might be the best song on here. Great sound. I recognize Give up the funk from movies and the radio. Very popular. It’s interesting to see how different the “dance” and “party” music is from the 70’s to present day. The rock aspect mixed with the funky jazz blends so smoothly together. This project is one wild party. A true example of the funky 70’s.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jan 20 2026

This album is smooth. From the guitar, vocals, and the saxophone, this album gives you a little bit of everything. I enjoyed a lot of the background vocals that brought an inviting presence to Bowie’s sharp tone. It does have a touch of a gospel in the way that it can be repetitive with the background singers and it has a big band feel. You still feel the funk of the 70’s but elevated into something bigger. The big hit songs Young Americans and Fame make this shorter album a good listen and make you want some more. Short but sweet listen.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Jan 21 2026

Ozzy and the rest of Black Sabbath were very influential during the 70’s. Their loud and who cares mentality was different and people liked it. You can tell they had too much fun making this album. It has the psychedelic vibe that most 70’s rock had. The drugs, the partying, the we don’t care. It all blends together to be another big hit for ozzy and Black Sabbath.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jan 22 2026

The album starts with an a lot of emotions. Whether motivated, sad, or excited, you can feel how the sound of the project will be. You can hear a young Coldplay starting to figure out the direction they’re going. It sounds like mistakes and what ifs. However, you hear the “we”ll be fine” and keep going as well.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jan 27 2026

When I think of 90’s hip hop it’s Dr. Dre, Snoop, and the west coast. Classic songs you can bump to and have that feel good to them. Enjoyable listen.
