1001 Albums Summary

I don't know that I've evr listened to this front to back, so I didn't realize how many bangers were on this one album. Not always a genre or sound I reach for, but enjoyed it.

I used to say my favorite of hers was Court and Spark, and while I do love that album, I think I was just saying that to not be like everyone else, but it turns out everyone else is correct and yes, upon a middle aged listen, this probably is her best.

As a Chicagoan who is also a musician, I can't believe I've never listened to a Muddy Waters album straight through. You can tell here just by listening that he basically invented Chicago blues, it sounds so perfectly aligned to what I know about the genre (which is, probably not enough).

I do not, in fact, like Coldplay.

I'm giving it 3 stars just because I can tell from listening to (most of) it that it was ground breaking and significant to the genre. I held myself to getting through one song and got through more of it than I ever expected to, but yeah, not for me. Won't be going back to this.

I mean, it was a fun listen but I'm not sure about its significance as far as appearing on a list like this. I don't have a huge level of knowledge about garage rock, but I feel like I'd choose like a White Stripes from the same time period over this? It made me want to listen to some actual punk, specifically Rancid's And Out Come the Wolves.

Another one I can tell is musically well crafted, but not for me.
