What a great feat to an album only 38 mins long. Earth, Wind and Fire capture the 70s in each song and every song is better than the last.
Favourite song: Shining Star or Album title track!
Least favourite: Africano (due to it being an instrumental, but still fire)
First ever Prince album I’ve listened to in full!
4.5/5 ⭐️ - Cannot fault it except for Darling Nicki isn’t my vibe.
R.I.P Prince ❤️
Great use of rock, pop and funk sprinkle in some disco mix here and there. Prince is an absolute genius and gone too soon for this lifetime.
When Doves Cry is amazing, same as purple rain (having a 2026 resurgence currently) and baby I’m a star, lesser credited than the previously mentioned songs, but such a ‘sleeper hit’ for an album that is so commercially successful lol.
Favourite Song: Baby I’m a Star (tune) and Purple Rain (obvs)
Least Favourite: Darling Nikki (it’s so SCARY WHAT THE HECK)
I have realised that I am not the biggest Jazz fan, however this album has some sleeper hits that I cannot recommend it enough

Wow. just wow, this entire album is amazing. It feels like a warm summer night in memphis.
Dusty is perfection on this album too with her sultry vocals and some jazz thrown around.
Perfect album no skips.
Favourite songs: The windmills of your mind and Breakfast in Bed
Least favourite: I have none!!! all tunes

I enjoyed it thoroughly however, I would still prefer to listen to Nevermind over this album. I highly recommend commend the band for this being their DEBUT album and after learning the history of Pearl Jam I appreciate them much more than before.
However, this is personal preference of every song sounding the same that makes it lose points from my end. I knew a few songs before completing this album such as even flow and Black which made those listening moments enjoyable however some of the songs I personally did not enjoy due to them being a ‘slower’ track.
I appreciate this album and the things Pearl Jam has done for the grunge community and the ticketmaster war. FUCK TICKETMASTER FR
Favourite song: Porch and Even Flow
Least favourite: Release

I thoroughly enjoyed gang of four’s take on multiple deep rooted topics surrounding politics, hatred and violence within the UK and political climate at the time. I enjoyed the upbeat, engaging beat with their upsetting lyrics that makes people dance while also LISTEN to what they’re saying. It’s like they entice you at first then start singing about their main concerns which immediately hook you!
I can definitely see why bands such as RHCPs and LCD Sound system gravitated towards this band and especially this album for their ‘sound’. One of the great pioneers of this genre! However, all of the songs do sound the exact same, which is great if they enjoy the feeling and music they produce, for me? It’s alright, don’t think I would relisten to the album, especially anytime soon.
Another point to note is the COVER! amazing cover love the political message even within the cover, let alone the music . It makes you curious about what the cowboy will do to the misunderstanding indian and wants you to ALREADY feel a type of way before the record even starts.
I do love that synth guitar though, so creepy but soooo fun!
Favourite song: 5.45
Leas favourite song: Contract :)
good, old fashioned dad rock and quintessential 70’s rock music.
Paved the way for may upcoming artists at the time but I understand the critiques of repeating track sounds, however, for the 70’s this is revolutionary within the music space.
I still think it holds up till this day though, nice chill music with beautiful ballets and lovely guitar/piano jamming, as well as beautiful vocals from Paul Rodgers :)
Favourite song(s)- Don’t let me down, Bad Company, Seagull!

Was reading people’s reviews on this album on this website and people are saying this ISNT EVEN THEIR BEST ALBUM??? excited to see what they could possibly mean because this is an incredible album, i love the heavy instrumental beat and the radical lyrics so good to jam out to.
Never rate things 5 stars unless I really vibe heavy wit it, this is completely deserving of it.
Buying everything they’ve ever done now 🤞
Favourite Song: After Hours, Footprints, Rhythm, Ham ‘N’ Eggs, Description of a Fool
Least Favourite: THERE ARE NONE BRO!⭐️
I definitely think the album gets better during the middle to end, still thrives this love is a perfect song to break up the otherwise mediocre start of the album, I just love that latin instrumental makes me dance 💃.
I wouldn’t listen to it again, however I understand the nostalgia around it and it’s a good album :)
