Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 22 2026

Not normally my thing but some of the guitar work on this is gritty and very bluesy. A few more straightforward C&W style tunes that didn't float my boat. Made it onto my Liked list...

It's a classic. Amazingly creative, themes we can all relate to. Faultess

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 26 2026

When he starts singing about the size of his appendage and bitches, I turned off. Some interesting music but the lyrical content isnt for me. Misogynistic, hateful, disrespectful. Nah...

Is This It by The Strokes
Jan 27 2026

Significant album in modern indie and it still stands the test of time. Takes a song or two to get going but builds into a scuzzy guitar fest with sparse production and sneery vocals. Forgot how good this is (it).

Jan 28 2026

Would never have thought I'd like anything by Elton John. As a punk/post-punk/indie kid (well adult), there's a decent amount to like on this. If nothing else, EJ had an ear for a tune and wrote a good lyric (with some help). Maybe a little on the long side for me but worth a listen

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Jan 29 2026

The 80s rap is great. And old school vibe but it doesn't sound dated. It then has songs that are paens to Stevie Wonder and a bit schmaltzy for my tastes. The spoken word bits won't be to everyone's tastes. The Message is a great song and although the album does make a lot of it, they don't overdo it.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Jan 30 2026

Played one of these songs in my covers band. Have Love Will Travel. Shirt, sharp and very catchy. Less than 30 minutes. Lean as a greyhound. Spiky as a porcupine. Good stuff

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Feb 02 2026

A perfect antidote to modern living and modern music. Not a laptop in sight, just fine guitar playing, subtle percussion and strings that played by real musicians (but without drowning songs in great washes of orchestration). Quintessentially English, Five Leaves Left is a pretty much perfect example of folk.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Feb 03 2026

Paint it Black but then Lady Jane but back to Under My Thumb. The Stones flip-flop from classic rock tunes to fairly average at best on this. Always felt it was best to cherry pick RS songs
