1001 Albums Summary

There are some tracks here which are just flawless to me. A timeless songwriter showing why he's timeless. The mixing from Roy Halee is also some of the most judicious I've seen from him. Much to appreciate here.

While the ringleader's contemporaries at this time period would've floored him in almost every aspect this album encapsulates, it still shouldn't be disregarded as Mark Bolan proves himself to be an enjoyable entertainer.

HOLY MOLY. This was an experience that I wish I had recognised as savoury when I first listened to it a couple years ago. This puts the creativity of prog to the test and proves RUSH as strong contenders for possibly the greatest to ever do it. It's that fun and that striking to the point where I feel the nitty gritty parts that I may feel conflicted with simply don't matter. I have no power to say anything else

It's Stevie

This is really impressive. I've slept on her vocal authority over a lot of other people trying to write about the same things she's writing about. It's one for the ages, and there's the right amount of variety on here to keep you active. In other words, having this as a background listen is a sin.

I no longer like trumpet solos

Version 1 million of someone saying that this album is a beautifully bleak representation of what it feels like to be up before most people in the world, whilst invaded with thoughts of a girl that you have a complicated relationship with. This album is the motive for you to go on that walk.

It's fairly consistent, a little too safe

It's Prince

It's bog standard for teenagers with long hair and smelly armpits, I just got too used to the vocalists groaning manner (probably derived from Kurt) to the point where it becomes draining. Not that consistent of a tracklist for me and the intro and outro skit is a little cringe.

Rather fun, actually quite a bit of substance here what with them having a lot of rhythmic and metric confidence. Some skips along the way but I could perhaps return to this as an example of something that takes musical risks but can still create mass appeal. Could be cool in the summer asw

I need to study and memorise this record at some point cos there are some moments here that are too beautiful to leave behind. One of Bowie's best for sure.
