cool to hear where a lot of the inspiration for modern rock came from, but less exciting compared to what I like
Slow start, but built up to become a strong album in the middle and end portions, maybe not a full listen but had its moments
Fantastic album, very broad coverage musically, maybe not the most thematically engaging but from a listening standpoint, I would very much listen again
Sonically, a very good album with good layering of instruments and vocals, but it could do with a remaster. The songs themselves are all strong, I couldn't point out any weak moments, but as someone who is not a massive country fan, the album did not change this or blow me away, so it gets a strong 4 stars.
Classic. Fantastic album encapsulating the themes of the time. Very classic Dad rock for a reason with catchy guitar licks, but some lyrical themes (see 'sweet black angel') feel dated and like they may spoil it as a modern listener. Only not a five star because I prefer slightly faster forms of rock.
Very high highs, very low mids. The first half of the album had me thinking this would be my first 5 star, with classics like Ms Jackson and B.O.B, but the second half felt like a bit of a let down, lacking the energy and pickup of the first. The interludes (or interlewds as they were) felt very out of place and jarring against the rest of the album and didn't add much to the cohesiveness of the record.
Fantastic background music. Honestly some really interesting guitar parts, but lacks the excitement or lyricism to really make this an album worth revisiting. Could be good ambient music in a film.
Like BCNR forgot how to be melodic.
Lacked the direction and purpose of a normal album. The songs were okay, all of them were okay listens but nothing to write home about. All-in-all a very classic Dad-rock album
It was okay, I understand why it is so highly rated and I may listen to it again, but it wasn't as timeless as it may be rated. Some of the songs felt too staccato and very 80s in a way that I don't enjoy as much
Just bad. dready and weird. Not a fan
Sonically very high quality mixing a Spanish sound with electric elements, but not for me
Pretty good, some very high highs and generally one of the better rock albums with some good ideas.
Some classics, but a bit too British shouty and repetitive for me to enjoy as much as other entries
One of the better hip hop albums, has a lot of catchy songs and does touch on themes of broader political issues without being preachy or OTT with it.
Okay, didn't resonate with me particularly. A bit too country
