1001 Albums Summary

Running up that hill : the beat sounds like dogs barking and getting more and more intense. The percussions at the 3 minute mark sound amazing. I’ve always heard the minute snippet from the Stranger Things series, but the song sounds much better than I remembered. The voice of Kate Bush, the intensity, you feel like you’re part of her crazy run she’s taking you in. Hounds of love : Back vocals still sounding like dogs barking in the beginning. The big sky : Guitar goes wild on the big sky, with the claps and percussions, making a great mix overall. Mother stands for comfort : Sounds like she’s flying in the sky with her keyboard, levitating. Under Ice : Feels stressful, like I’m standing on a thin line of ice. Jig of life : Making me feel like a pirate, chanting a sea shanty. Solid 6/10 for this album ; it has so much emotion, energy

This Public Enemy’s album is a product of its time to my ears. I didn’t put a lot of attention to the lyrics though, which I’m sure gives it a way better experience. This album is a product of its time, a great time-capsule before the greats got on the scene. It came out 2 months before N.W.A.’s album, which really paved the way IMO of hip hop’s sound. There’s a lot of disc scratches and glitchy effects, which can be annoying at times. It’s not an album for studying, but a great one for some outdoors running. I’d give it a solid 4,5/10, with Cold Lampin’ With Flavor and Night of the Living Baseheads as my personal highlights

This album is so good. I’ve listened to it at least 4 times. It wasn’t my first listen, but damn Herbie Hancock got that shit on. Only 4 tracks, but each of them takes you on a little journey. I love what he does, he does it wonderfully. Solid 8.5 for me
