Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears

shout - great intro to the album, very pop-esque, great nostalgic type feel the working hour - i absolutely love this song's instrumental, it reminds me of japanese city pop, just an overall good feel especially with the saxophone melody everybody wants to rule the world - love itttt, a classic, listening to it all the way through makes me notice all the parts more, the bridge compliments the rest of the song so well while bringing something new to the melody mothers talk - insanely 80s pop rock intro, i love the melodies in this song and their singing voices it adds so much personality i believe - much more chill, laid back feel with simple snare drums, vocals, and a piano broken - back to upbeat, they were going crazy on that guitar solo ughhh, can be a bit disorienting but it has the same melody as head over heels, transitions into head over heels head over heels - nostalgic melodyyyy classic, i love it, i think the vocals are perfect and compliment the instrumentals so well, also just a classic in general, reminds me of a coming of age movie, such a feel good song :) listen - THE END OF HEAD OVER HEELS TRANSITIONED TO THIS, oh my goodness the intro instrumental is magical, it caught all of my attention oh, i'm listening, alright. it's so good you don't even realize it's 6 minutes. the overlapping vocals sound ethereal, the composition is splendid overall: no skips, they cooked. maybe i'm biased because i like pop-rock but i don't care. this makes me appreciate the variety of pop-rock even more now. 9/10

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Mar 02 2026

2 songs, one jazz album Shhh/Peaceful: This song is unassuming. It begins off as great background ambiance and as soothing jazz that I personally think is easy to listen to but it is not slow. it keeps a steady upbeat rhythm, easy to not bore the listener. toward the end, it rises and crescendos in a way that the previous composition didn't hint at. the instruments begin to dance with each other in an amazed bacchic celebration that i only wish i could have witnessed in person. it is the type of all encompassing emotional swell that fills the soul deeply to replenish and further soar only to be calmed down again by the soft retire of the day. i enjoyed all 18 minutes and 18 seconds of this jazz ensemble and if it comes on again while doing my homework, i will be sure not to skip. In a Silent Way: This one is an interesting one. (To me all jazz is interesting so it doesn't surprise me). This feels like walking through the busy life of a city musician and all he wants more than anything, is to be able to live in a silent way. Just for a moment. To me, that respite is the end of the song. A calm moment where his energy can recharge, he can take in life in around him, and he's living it not letting life happen.

there were a couple of songs i liked, mainly due to their more happy/unique sound but nonetheless this was an okay listen. the songs didn't insanely stick out to me or linger but maybe that's because i was doing calc homework while listening. i like lemonworld and conversation 16. they both stood out to me because of their contrast to the mellow monotone sounds of the previous couple of songs and they have a certain part that is catchy in a way.
