One of arena rock's insipid early offerings. Should make for fine elevator music in the near future. I imagine if a JC Penny catalog came with a soundtrack, this is it.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Mar 03 2026

I knew this was a five star album before going back to listen for the thousandth time, but after doing my due diligence, I wish I could rate it higher. "Ten" is definitely in my top 10 and probably belongs in top 3 albums of all time. There are no weak songs (maybe "Oceans" is the least good) and the album really takes you on an enjoyable journey from beginning to end. Strand me on an Island with this album alone and I will die happy.

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Mar 05 2026

This album surprised me. I thought I knew 2 of the songs before listening but it turns out Cyndi Lauper's hits were more than just "Time After Time" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". What really caught me off guard was the bit of punk that shines throughout the album. A definite classic that I didn't realize was a classic. Color me impressed.

Abraxas by Santana
Mar 06 2026

Technically impressive. Definitely some fine guitar work. I'd probably rate a 4 or 5 if I were still consuming the devil's lettuce, but there's not really enough structure to satisfy sober me. If you love it when jam bands go off on a 45 minute tangent, you'll probably love this.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones

Very by Pet Shop Boys

Not really my cup of tea, but I can see how this helped define punk music at the time. The lyrics are every bit as relevant today as they were in 1980. It's just a bit too sonically harsh for widdle ole me.
