1001 Albums Summary

Not what I expected at all. Too polished and overproduced. Expected more grit. A couple songs that probably translate better in a live setting.

I enjoyed this album, though it’s not my favorite genre….it starts to all sound the same to me after a while (which depending on the listener can be said about any genre, honestly) But I enjoyed the jazzy interplay between instruments and the horn sound was fantastic. I also thought Astrud Gilberto’s vocal work was beautiful. I wasn’t familiar with any of her work save for ‘Iponema’ but am inclined to seek out some of her other works.

I’m sure I judged this album based on how I’ve seen Kanye act since 2004 so this may or may not be a legit review but this just sounds like a rich frat boy trying to be cool and hard, without any real street cred. Overrated as an artist and public figure, as I see it.

I knew of HH before but was not familiar with any of his catalog…I was blown away by this album!

Great songwriting and great arrangement. A very unique and recognizable voice. And then there are the 7 Grammys!

Meh. Too long and sounds like an artist trying to sound like he’s got street cred

Not a huge Frank fan to begin with and this one was a bit of a snooze fest.

Loved it! Iconic and distinct voice.

Some good tracks, got a little monotonous at the end
