I was really jamming and then it just keeps going, so much instrumental.
I know the line from who's that lady and also the song "Listen to the music". The instrumental on Summer Breeze is so cool. It's a cover of Seal & Crofts, I like their version too, it's been in a lot of movies. I also listened to the cover by Type O Negative. It's a really dark and slow version. An interesting take. I think the Isley Brothers' version is my favorite.
Reading their Wikipedia page I'm starting to understand their genius.
My order of songs on the album:
1-Summer Breeze
2-Listen to the Music
3-That Lady
4-What It Comes Down To
5-The Highways of My Life
6-Sunshine (Go Away Today)
7-If You Were There
8-You Walk Your Way
9-Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight
A good album, I enjoyed it. It might be some of my new go-to music when I want something to listen to while I'm cooking.
I Know What I Know
The Boy In the Bubble
Gumboots
Graceland
You Can Call Me Al (sounds like another one of the songs)
Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes
Albie thinks it's rad, Brenden said one of his uncles used to listen to Sonic Youth.
Delightful little orchestra music with bass and keyboard and string instruments. Zopf: From the Colonies and The Sound of Someone You Love are really good. I really enjoyed this journey. Also, the composer has a son with his own group "Penguin Cafe." They have a very similar sound.
Not my favorite. The singer's voice is pretty average and despite the meaningful lyrics I just didn't enjoy it much. So of the songs can be pretty cool, Brenden enjoyed more than me.
I like it, didn't like who he was as a person.
Great jazz, not much to say. Made me miss jazz band.
I wasn't really into it. Sounds a lot the same and the songs are so long. Maybe if I found it at a different stage of my life I would like it better. I know this is Dan's favorite band. I thought I was hearing a song I liked, it was just Pink Floyd on auto-play.
Of course we all know Seven Nation Army. I don't think I've heard anything else by them, so I'm excited to listen. I know they're not brother and sister from the kid's book we have.
Well now I'm a bit like huh, I don't like it too much. His voice changes so much throughout the album. I'm intrigued by them and their image, Meg White is very interesting to me.
I mean it's good because it's Foo Fighters, but I feel like they had better albums. This was a bit sparse and I didn't recognize any of the songs. Didn't really hit for me.
I thought there must be a woman in the band because of the name, nope. Lol the lyrics are pretty misogynistic as well but they're sort of funny and forgivable. Like Add It Up is pretty funny.
I feel like I need to stop reading the Wikipedia articles. I don't know anything about these people so I want to learn about them, but then it influences my perception. I liked this album, but knowing all of his background with his divorces and artistic parents and dropping out of school after junior high, I don't know if it makes me not like his music, but it just makes me think too much. I don't know.
I'm gonna fall asleep this jazz is too smooth!
It's not what I expected haha I guess I was thinking of the cranberries. It's very like 60's boy band. It was fun to listen to but I don't know if I would listen again.
