Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Mar 31 2026

Honestly, I think this album, despite being a hallmark of hard rock is not musically interesting in the slightest. While much of the songs here have catchy hooks, it lacks substance with repeated song forms ad nauseam which made this album a slog to get through. This is like the vanilla ice cream of rock music, it's inoffensive (as crazy as it is to say nowadays given the perception of AC/DC during the era) but there are so many more interesting and better things out there that it's like why even bother?

Horses by Patti Smith
Apr 01 2026

The influence this album had on punk is evident and I do like how she blended other styles of music to make this album. Smith is also clearly a brilliant lyricist with a poem-like quality to her lyrics but I think this just isn't my kind of music. Nothing wrong with it, it's a good album but not something I would add to my regular rotation although Free Money definitely is a highlight. This is an album I can see my opinion changing on after subsequent listening.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Apr 02 2026

I am normally not a fan of indie rock but the mastering on this track is excellent and I love the different musical textures they use throughout from orchestral strings and choral vocals as well as organ. Would not think this would be an album I'd add to re-listen multiple times but I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this.
