Pure 70s R&B. Very groovy, fun synthy riffs, definitely a late night album or a dinner playlist addition. Standout tracks: Too High, Golden Lady, Higher Ground (duh), Dont you worry 'bout a thing.

Paradise by the dashboard light is so good. but god Meatloaf and this theater rock is just not my style.

god i fucking love this album. idk what combo of drug he was on during this era, but there's a joy in this album that i think influenced so much of the alt-country / y'allternative of the 90s and 2000s, unknowingly if nothing else. perfect album cover perfect album. nothing else matters when you're on the beach

I mean... if this isn't peak early Beatles... I don't know what is. It's like a PB and J sandwich. nothing new, but it hits every time. Pop songs at their peak.

y'know. It's really solid. I appreciate the music, but i just dont know if I'd ever come back to the album for multiple re-listens.

wild. i just listened to this on the drive home from Green Bay yesterday. no notes album. Cant believe Julian's voice is muffled for 98% of the album. Nick Valensi & Albert Hammond Jr's guitar work feels like it redefined everything for the next 20 years.

man... i just don't get new wave/ 80s synth. Love Vigilantes is a banger, but only because i know the iron and wine cover. It just sounds like a tin-can speaker on every song... but not in a fun way
