Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen

I'm not a huge fan of Springsteen. I think I don't love his voice. That said, there were some non-hit, deep cuts that I had never heard on this album that I found myself liking. I know he's a cultural icon who has stood the test of time, and I'm glad his deep cuts helped bolster that reality for me.

I've loved this album for a long time. It's a great listen. These artists all have their own hits too. Thanks for surfacing it in my life once again.

Bad by Michael Jackson
Apr 28 2026

Great album. So many hits. Great producing. Whatever you think about Michael Jackson, there's no denying that he was a talented performer.

Queen II by Queen
Apr 30 2026

I've been a Queen fan for a long time, but I've never listened to this album front to back. There are a lot of hidden gems on here that didn't become mainstream hits. These gems are on the same level of those hits in my book.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
May 05 2026

So emblematic of early rap and hip hop. Also has some true classics that are still played in public settings today.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
May 06 2026

It's not my favorite style of music, but I appreciate the artistry. I also understand that they were sort of pioneers in bringing this sound mainstream, which adds some significance to this album. I enjoyed it, but I don't see myself eagerly coming back to it time and time again.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
May 07 2026

I really liked it. I learned that Bob Dylan worked with The Band and that's who played a lot of the music with him on this album. I also often don't love Bob's singing voice, but it worked on this album. Overall, I liked it way more than I thought I would.

Harvest by Neil Young

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Jun 05 2026

I know Radio Head is innovative and widely praised. Somehow, when I listen to it I can both understand it and not love it. I'll give it another go, but I can't say I absolutely loved this album.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jun 08 2026

Raw, exciting, musical, fun, this album is great. The bass player is particularly noteworthy.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jun 09 2026

The main criticism I have is this type of music all sounds similar to me. Maybe the melodies are similar or the voice does that to my brain. That said, it's catchy and artistic music. I enjoy listening to it and find interesting things in it. I'm not going to find myself rocking out energetically to any of these songs.

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Jun 10 2026

I only listened to half of it. It was fresh and fun and the musicality was interesting.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jun 23 2026

I've been a big doors fan for a while. Great album.

Be by Common
Jun 24 2026

Exceptional album. The first and last songs are two of my favorite songs of all time. The middle almost rises to the same heights. Essential listening if you're a fan of mid-2000s rap, rap in general, music production, and lyricism.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Jul 02 2026

Has a few all time classic songs on it and the other songs are not just filler. They're also great too. My appreciation for The Rolling Stones has grown.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Jul 15 2026

I'm surprised this music doesn't have more listens in Spotify. It's very solid and fun and 90s.
