I really admire the poetry of the album but I've never been a fan of Joni's vocals. I thought the album started off great with All I Want, but that ended up being my favorite track and musically it felt like the rest of the album was much of the same.
Very experimental and fun. The only reason I couldn't go 5 stars is because there are much better Beatles albums. It's hard not to go Blackbird for my favorite track since it was my introduction to the Beatles many many years ago. I listened while working, but I've listened to the album before several times. I'd be interested to know the number of different instruments used on this album.
A great album for any day but the day I listened the morning was cool and gloomy. Love Amy's voice and attitude. This is an easy album to listen all the way through. Favorite song was all of them but if I had to pick one, Back to Black.
Just not for me. Too many of the songs sounded like I just heard them. It was the first album that we listened to that I couldn't wait for it to be over. Everything they did would have been better if it was performed by Oasis. Favorite track was maybe Parklife.
It grew on me the more I listened but the bar started extremely low. I can appreciate the artistry but it wasn't for me. Favorite track was Blue Lines because it reminds me of the pretentious music that would always be playing in record stores when I was still buying vinyl.
Such a great album! I really enjoyed listening to this one. I felt like the only thing missing was the right weather. It would be perfect for a cool fall day. My favorite track was So Far Away, but really several could have been there. I'm listening again as I type this out.
I'm a big fan of early 90s hip-hop/rap so there is some personal bias here and we are probably starting off with 2 stars minimum. I can definitely hear what would inspire some of my favorites from right after this album (91) but I just dont connect with this one the same. Favorite track is Check the Technique.
Growing up some of my "Punk" friends were into Elvis Costello. I can hear it now. It's not great but musically not terrible. I wish I could give half stars because 3 seems too low but 4 is too high. Favorite song is Less than Zero because WTF was up with Oswald?
I love this album. It speaks truth to what these young guys were seeing growing up. The album art is iconic and this album is responsible for inspiring so many other great rappers. Again, bias for 80s/90s rap. Favorite song - Fuck the police.
I didn't finish the album but I did enjoy it. Not something that would be in many regular rotation but I loved all the instruments
I've listened to this album so many times and love it more each time. Shine On is a masterpiece, wish you were here might be the best 12 string guitar work ever and it all fits together in a nice package.
I previously thought I was a Buck Owens fan but its all a bit much for me. It started off great but a few tracks in I was wishing it was over. Streets of Laredo was my favorite just because it was such a change up.
I wish I could give this a 4.5. Thought so much about giving it a 5. The track Bold as Love deserves the 5 starts just by itself. Castles made of sand and if 6 was 9 were also favorites but by a long shot my favorite is Bold as Love.
