New Wave by The Auteurs
May 18 2026

Vocals really bring all of these tracks down. The instrumentals in most tracks were good, but the transitions were a bit odd in some places. Some standout tracks for me were Junk Shop Clothes, Starstruck, and Home Again. The hidden track at the end of Home Again was easily the best listen on this album. The other tracks that were not mentioned in this review are very forgettable and not for me.

Illmatic by Nas

The lyricism is insane on this album. Each track tells a story that is super fun to follow. The beats are top notch, and flow perfectly with the lyrics. This album is great all the way through.

The first couple of tracks are a great start to the album. I really like the half way transition in Animal Nitrate. The fuzzy guitar tone on these tracks are what caught my ear immediately. I am not really a fan of the vocal performance on She's Not Dead. It's just not my thing. The instrumentals are great though. I really like the second half of the next two tracks Moving and Pantomime Horse. The instrumentals are what really stand out to me, especially the guitar. the vocal performance on both are quite good as well. The Drowners is probably my favourite track on the album. It's a very fun listen, the guitars and drums work so well together to create an upbeat and rock based feel. The guitar on Sleeping Pills is pure bliss. The breakdown on Breakdown is pretty cool :) hehehe ha. Metal Mickey is quite generic sounding but I kinda enjoy it. I think the vocals work best when it's in a slower song like The Next Life which heavily features the piano. I really like He's Dead.

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon

Some certified childhood classic on this album. I've always been an avid listener of these kind of 2000s alt rock albums, but I never really checked this one out entirely. The vocals really stood out to me, mainly because I can hear that southern accent coming through on most of these tracks. Overall I'd say the album is good. The two best tracks on the album are obviously Use Somebody and Sex On Fire.
