Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
May 21 2026

Honestly, I can't believe it's taken me this long to REALLY listen to Jimi Hendrix. I always thought his style was too psychedelic for me, but really listening to this album makes me see what I missed out on. It's got a lot more of a funk feel than I anticipated which I LOVE. I'm going to definitely listen more intently later so I can make notes on the specific songs.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
May 22 2026

It was so interesting to hear Amy so young and a little more in the commercial side of things than the jazz side we all know and love. Obviously, some very controversial lyrics, but overall, I'm moving and grooving.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
May 23 2026

This album seemed a bit gratuitous for me. The first and last tracks could've been cut off SO much sooner than they were. Definitely not worthy of being 12 and 17 minutes. The second and third tracks, though, were EXCELLENT. They didn't seem dragged out for too long or cut off too short. I really do love the R&B/Soul meets Rock and Roll sound that Isaac Hayes has and his voice is beautiful, but I feel like those tracks could've been cut down to 7-10 minutes each.

May 24 2026

Did not finish the album. While I can understand this was from a different time and rap is another form of poetry, it was hard to sit through line after line about self-harm and domestic violence and hear slurs used towards those he doesn’t agree with that are regularly targeted at the disabled community. Not for me.
