Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jun 23 2026

I like how it looks like the dog is pooping in the album art. Really nice easy listening.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 24 2026

Pretty crass but really funny. Lots of clever lyrics. Feels very "in the life of a horny teenager in a rough neighbourhood", which is captured well throughout all the songs. This music isn't my normal cup of tea but overall I enjoyed it and I see why it had the cultural impact it did. It's like watching a really good movie in a genre that you don't like; you probably won't watch it again but you recognize the work put into it and the quality of it.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors
Jun 25 2026

Haven't listened to a Doors album before, but I love it! Roadhouse Blues - love the fast clip of this song, it's a bop. Lots of bluesy variety, with fast-paced and slower songs. The keys are pretty sick across all the songs.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jun 26 2026

Super easy to listen to, reminds me of Pixar movies. I think I’ll come back to this album for nice chill vibes when working. Gotta be 5 stars there’s nothing wrong with it

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jun 29 2026

Liked the first song for the most part. I think each song has a lot of cool sounds and groovy parts but it always gets interrupted by some annoying grating sound part way through, might be worse on headphones, but I don’t want to bother trying to listen to this again on speakers. Overall the album gets really fatiguing over time, there’s not much downtime between songs so it feels like noise. I wanted to give it a 3 but after writing my thoughts it feels more like a 2 lol

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 30 2026

Was never a big fan of the peppers, I find the singer's voice pretty grating and the lyrics nonsensical garbage. I didn't realize how funky they sound though, I love all of the bass guitar through this very long album, but man this album feels so long to get through. Not sure if it's just an issue with doing this 1001 challenge, but it felt hard to get through the whole thing. I think overall I enjoyed the bassline and funky grooves to the songs more than I hated them so I'll go with a 3/5 on this one.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jul 01 2026

I’m not a huge jazz fan, but how do you rate something like this? This is a historical artifact of the best jazz musicians at the time, I feel like me leaving a review is pointless lol If you want my opinion, I thought it was really good but the really high note horns coming through randomly weren’t exactly for me, but maybe it was popular at the time I dunno

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Jul 02 2026

"Finally some good fucking food". Really good album, good length to it, some huge bangers on this one. I can find the lead singer's voice grating over time, but the album was just the right length that they didn't overstay their welcome.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Jul 03 2026

I didn't realize I knew some of these songs, now I'm a Steely Dan fan. They're all so easy to follow and sing along to, a really pleasant listening experience. 5/5 would listen again.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 05 2026

Easy to listen to, got jump scared when he sang about bombing a church or something lol

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
Jul 06 2026

Really nice and easy to listen to, I could easily listen to this on repeat. I like the melancholic voice mixed with the easygoing tunes and lyrics with depth that warrant a second look.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Jul 07 2026

Beautiful voice, classic, iconic, 10/10

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jul 09 2026

Great live recording, felt like I was there.

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Jul 10 2026

Never heard of these guys but I loved it! Super fun sounds, really catchy, experimental but not in a grating way.

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jul 11 2026

Some really good songs, but some songs feel a little out of left field in a weird way. 4/5 for me

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Jul 12 2026

I liked this. Like an early Alanis Morissette. Was easy to have on in the background. I could see someone finding it grating after a while, and the whole album kind of blended together as everything sounded similar, but it was an enjoyable experience for me

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Jul 16 2026

Beautiful singing voice, very dreamy, but literally putting me to sleep. Should've been called "The Sleepy Session".
