1001 Albums Summary

A pretty funky, gritty rap album that does not hold your hand if you're a newcomer like me nor does it come off as a debut but rather a cacophony of talent. I really like the production as it feels more of a heavy-duty art piece in hip-hop culture, the vocal range and talents of each member is shown across multiple tracks, the instrumentals are carefully created and curated to match the tone that Wu-Tang Clan has to offer as well as inspiring other East Coast Hip-Hop artists. I am a big fan of underground, dark tones in hip-hop so I did vibe and enjoy the album overall but couldn't delve too much into the lyricism nor could I say I would listen to it much after this showcase. My favorite tracks off this album are "Bring Da Ruckus" and "C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me)

Hot take for hardcore Beatles fans: this is, so far, my least favorite album. I listened to both the original release as well as the 6-disc expanded edition and while the latter has more charm and depth to the work it takes to develop music, the former is a real slog to get through. I understand that the boys were collapsing and pulling into different styles and it shows with jarring music choices ("Revolution 9" was just awful), somber melodies with lyrics that come off repetitive than catchy, and only 2 tracks that stand out the most out of the double album. While I admire "Back in the U.S.S.R." and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps", I will not necessarily be coming back, minus the acoustic version of the former, to this album. It's a sad ninth outing for the Beatles.

For my second album from this 60s rock group, it is a much better listen than the white album. The roots of experimental rock, melodic tones, artistic merits, and wonderous lyrics were taking shape but with the consistent tones that make a great album. Researching the album also reveals the ties that were unraveling the group by the mid-60s which could have given credence to shaping pain into art. My favorite tracks are "Eleanor Rigby" (as well as being my all-time GOAT from the Beatles) and "Tomorrow Never Knows".
