1001 Albums Summary

The first of my 1001 albums. Idk if I'll keep up with this thing. But it sounds pretty cool. I found it from a YouTube video that suggested some other cool sites. This album is pretty cool. Rock music. Rock music for the people!!! Happy 5th (of July)! Get It On is on this album. Cool song. Definitely heard it before. 1971 was probably a pretty good year for music I'd have to guess. It's a rock album. Didn't blow my socks off, but I appreciate it. Thank you!

I'm not a hip hop head. The closest I got to being in touch with hip hop/rap was a window of time in high school over 12 years ago. That said, this album surely falls squarely in the camp of "old school" I'd have to guess. Maybe I will Google that. Maybe I won't! I enjoyed the song that talks a lot about flavors through out the day. Lunch and dinner and such. I also enjoyed the scratching and the use of samples. And actually oh wow this album really picks up in the second half. The samples become more complex and interesting. Thank you!

So very 80's! Holy schmole. There are some grooves on this album, and also many quiet moments. I think I enjoyed this. Sledge--hammah! Thank you!

This sure is a rock album. Not much to hate about it, but also not a lot to like I suppose. I see how this was influential. It felt a little repetitive to me though. Will this be my first 2 star review? It feels like another 3 star, but I really could not currently tell you one song that stood out. Thank you!

Oooo the most modern album so far. Exciting! Wow I’m catching up on all of this Arcade Fire drama. There’s a divorce happening. But the discourse is pointing towards nobody caring about the music because it’s boring and Win Butler’s behavior hangs a dark cloud over the discography. Anyway, Keep the Car Running is a very nostalgic song for me. I’m anticipating yet another 3 though because the rest of the album is quite middle of the road. What was with the obsession with glockenspiel in this genre and time period? Thank you!

Take Me Out stands out of course. But then every other song sounds like a song that’s on the same album as Take Me Out. I wanted to like it more :(. Thank you!
