good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jul 09 2026

I know I'm supposed to love this album but, honestly, just kinda meh for me. Love hip hop but Kendrick just doesn't really do it for me

The Clash by The Clash
Jul 10 2026

Ive heard this album before, and its good for what it is. I get that its an important album and helped shape the punk and rock music that came after it but it feels dated to me in a way that some other classics do not.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jul 15 2026

Great album, and the first on this list so far that I actually own on vinyl. For my money, there is no better song to show off how good your stereo sounds than Money for Nothing. The B side of this album loses me a bit, otherwise this would be a 5 star review.

So by Peter Gabriel
Jul 16 2026

Great pop album

The Cars by The Cars
Jul 17 2026

I had forgotten how great this album was. So many hits!

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 20 2026

Great album for lounging around the house.

Play by Moby
Jul 21 2026
White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Jul 28 2026

I've somehow never listened to a White Stripes album before. Obviously I've heard the hits but for some reason nothing ever clicked enough for me to check out their catalog. I think Jack White's voice isn't what I want it to be but, I'll be damned if I wasn't tapping my toes throughout. Solid album that I'll be adding to my collection

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Jul 29 2026

This is album is fine. Nothing offensive musically, but also nothing that I feel the need to circle back to. Definitely an album.

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Jul 30 2026

I think its easy for me to fall into the trap of rating an album based on "is this something I would crank in my car?" and this is not, but....BUT... this album is fucking great. He plays San Quentin back to back just to stick it to the prison. The crowd work is incredible and you can tell that he is playing to his people. Its rare for a live version of a song to be THE version of the song but that's the case for A Boy Named Sue and its fantastic.

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Aug 06 2026

This album is what you put on to make some babies. Good tunes, but nothing that grabbed me in a way that I need to relisten

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Aug 11 2026

This is a tough one. This album meant a lot to me at one point. Was a certified banger. No one was doing it like Kanye in 2004. Problem is Kanye has been a lunatic for the at least the last 10 years now and that's impossible to overlook. I did not listen to this album for this review, I have done everything I can to avoid his music for years now.
