1001 Albums Summary

Absolutely classic band that I have a lot of nostalgia tied to. I’ve been listening to CCR for years but never got around to listening to an album. Green River is a super accessible and fun classic rock/folk album. I enjoyed it although I definitely feel like I would need more time with the album. Mainly to get a better understanding of the songs that aren’t stand out hits that I’ve listened to and know literally all my life (Green River, and Bad Moon Rising). The songs that I wasn’t as familiar with upon first listen seemed a little flat compared to the ones I knew. Overall still a very enjoyable ,short, and accessible album with the occasional surprise I wasn’t expecting! I’ll definitely be coming back to the Green River every once and awhile.

This is one of the first golden age hip hop albums I’ve listened to all the way through; and what an album to start with! Public Enemy brought their A game with all aspects of this project. The sampling and productions is absolutely insane for an album from 1990, almost every song has a barrage of chopping and loops that culminates in an amazing backing for the rhymes and message of this album. Doing some research this album was groundbreaking for politically conscious hip hop and it’s easy to see. Each song discusses different aspects of the difficulty of racism and race relations in America during the time. And I can easily see how this influenced hip hop and its subject matter moving forward. That is one of the most impressive parts of this albums is how influential it sounds. Everything from the samples to subject matter I can almost immediately think of multiple examples of rappers to come picking up on. Ultimately this album is amazing and I’m very eager to return to it in the future. Also, FLAVOR FLAV 😝

The generator knew I needed more classic hip hop 😂 what an album. This whole project just leaks a sense of hype from these guys knowing what they were about to drop on the music world. Easily one of the greatest and most groundbreaking hip hop albums of all time. As with yesterday’s album everything from the vocal delivery, subject matter, sampling, and production paved the way for years of hip hop and rap to come. Unbelievable album. WU TANG WITH IT

The first album and artist that I didn’t really have any prior knowledge about. Very nice inoffensive folky singer songwriter album. I don’t think there was a bad track.

First album and band I’m very well versed in. Pink Floyd is one of the most important bands in my life so I’m definitely a bit biased. But they also have made some of the greatest albums of all time. This album being one of them. Much of the lyrical theme on this album was the boys mourning Syd Barrett, Barrett still being alive but very deep in schizophrenia and hard drug abuse. Shine on You crazy Diamonds making up almost half the album and being a sprawling epic dedicated to Syd with constant references toward him. During the recording and mastering of the album by chance Syd showed up at Abbey Road having heard the band was there. This was the first time in years the band had seen Syd and physically and mentally he was a completely different person. The band had already known they wanted the album to be about Syd but this encounter blew the concept wide open. The boys having longed for their friend finally had seen what time had done to him. And I think the effect of this encounter easily helped elevate this album to the pedestal it is on. Musically wise it’s amazing as Pink Floyd usually does well. But when you combine the emotional context and the music that’s what fully unlocks the greatness of this album. Also Have a Cigar absolutely kicks.

This album reminds me of a blunderbuss. Very old and rudimentary but with explosive power. Jack White is the fweaking goat.

Extremely good speed metal that helped shape modern metal. Some songs are a little dated but most of them rip.
