Popular Reviews

Elephant by The White Stripes

Probably the apex of the White Stripes' signature sound, before things gave way to the more experimental and before Jack went off on other adventures.

Jul 18 2026

Classic, lyrical, easy to listen to in a way that feels like coming home. I've heard a lot of these songs individually over the years and it's easy to see why Dylan is such an inspiration for artists of all ages. One of the greats.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Jul 20 2026

Just as brash and full of the same driving beats that define their later efforts, Franz Ferdinand's self-titled debut hits just as hard as it did 20 years ago.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jul 21 2026

Probably the apex of the White Stripes' signature sound, before things gave way to the more experimental and before Jack went off on other adventures.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jul 22 2026

Hot Fuss is so much more than "Mr Brightside and friends," but it is also absolutely "Mr Brightside and friends." Such a joy to revisit.

Tommy by The Who
Jul 23 2026

I didn't know Pinball Wizard was the core of a dark, weird rock opera. I respect the rock opera as a concept format, but I'm not sure I need to revisit this one anytime soon.

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Jul 24 2026

Pleasant to listen to, and Rufus' talent is evident, but nothing grabs me and makes me want to listen repeatedly.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jul 25 2026

Clean and classic, a little slow, but I might throw it on every now and then.

Dust by Screaming Trees
Jul 26 2026

Absent of context it doesn't sound like much. When you listen closely and figure out that it's the last hurrah of an early 90s grunge act it sounds like a little more. One or two tracks I might revisit.

Jul 27 2026

Bold, bombastic, and full of the kind of flow that sets the bar for everything that comes after.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jul 28 2026

A dreamy rock adventure rooted in playful instrumentation.

The Band by The Band
Jul 29 2026

Rambling, folksy, pleasant to listen to.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jul 30 2026

Legendary flow, an unforgettable classic.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Jul 31 2026

Mind melting prog goodness. Maybe a little too melty for casual listening.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Aug 01 2026

Nobody does it quite like Dire Straits. Knopfler's guitar work is unparalleled, but the rest of the band comes out swinging, and the keys on Walk Of Life is still one of my favourite musical moments.

Nixon by Lambchop
Aug 02 2026

I wasn't sure what to expect from Lambchop; I'm still not sure what to expect from Lambchop.

Moon Safari by Air
Aug 04 2026

I like ambient music as much as the next music but I guess it's harder to find ambient music that I LOVE?

Pretenders by Pretenders
Aug 05 2026

A dynamic, delightful listening experience. Still holds up today, and I can see how the Pretenders influenced some of my favourite bands from the 90s/00s.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Aug 07 2026

This album sounds like it's from 1983, not 2003. In this case, that's not a bad thing.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Aug 08 2026

Wonderful voice, a pleasant soft jazz record.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 09 2026

Rough-edged folk rock stylings from Neil Young's early days. An overall solid record.
