1001 Albums Summary

This album feels vaguely familiar, having listened to some of Patti Smith's other albums from around this period. I did enjoy it and gave it about 3 listens in total. Favourite track: Break it Up.

I liked this album. I briefly got excited at the beginning of"Welcome To The Terradome", and thought it was sampling "Loadsamoney" (it was not). I think I liked the tracks "Pollywannacranka" and "Burn Hollywood Burn" the most. The lyrics had a good number of clever cracks and flowed well, and they gave weight and an occasional level humor to the issues of racism addressed throughout. I would be interested to check out this group's other albums.

I was going to try and pick a favourite track from the list but I found them all blurring together a bit. The consistent sound on the album reminded me a bit of a couple of the grungier King Gizzard albums, Willoughby's Beach and I'm in your Mind Fuzz come to mind. This album has a cleaner sounding mix than either of those: I don't know how I feel about this. I think I like it less here than in Mind Fuzz, as that album uses a contrast of sounds across its length to build narrative, and while the lyrics across songs tie together a bit, the mostly constant sound means I didn't feel much of an emotional contast across Ramones' short length. (This all feels a bit surface level. I imagine this is likely to be common with only having a day for each!)

Um it was pretty camp and fun? I don't remember a whole lot from when I listened to it yesterday. It reminds me a bit of Yes' music. I liked the track "Warning" the most.
