1001 Albums Summary

Amazing album. Songs I liked were on this album without me even knowing. Found some good ones to add. I love the mix of political and more common topics—it’s a good blend that keeps the album from just being a, like, “protest album” or something like that. It’s more complex than that.

This was a great album. It’s bouncy and funny and seems like a great album to dance to. I can hear the influence it had going forward, but it also does a good job standing the test of time. Probably not adding any to my rotation, but good to keep in mind for vibe music. Also, iconic ending the original album with the song “I’ll Be Glad When You’re Dead.”

Listen, I know it was probably really important and influential, but I didn’t find a single song on this record that I liked. It was kind of just okay….

I’m with Eminem on this—Moby kinda sucks. Not for me. DNF

Very good album. Definitely elevated the Beach Boys in my mind to give them as much music credibility as the Beatles, not just a pop boy band. They got musical chops.

I like the title track. The rest is neither here nor there for me. I know it’s an important work, just not for me.

It was good! Not for me, but I can see why it made the list. Loved the mix of African and Mexican music.

I liked it! A couple songs on there that I actually knew, and the music was really good.

An incredible album. I can’t believe it took so long for it to get the recognition it deserves. Loved it.

It’s good! The songs are better than what I used to think of as “Elvis songs.” I’d like to look more into how Elvis stole from Black culture, though. Then maybe re-listen to see if I can hear the influence.
