I don’t listen to jazz, but wow. It’s long as fuck but that makes it really great for background music if you wanna deep clean your entire house and pretend to be a 1950s housewife. Would I listen again? Probably not all songs in one sitting, but I definitely enjoyed it and would totally be open to actually exploring jazz. That first disc is great, but it gets a little exhausting. My only complaint. It’s background music, not something you consciously listen to
I didn’t think I’d like this one because I’ve always been a fan of louder/faster rock music and I’ve only heard snippets of the Beatles. Safe to say I was proven wrong. The instrumentals and production was awesome and it doesn’t feel dated at all to me. Absolutely timeless and I think it’ll hold up for a long time
I’ve been meaning to listen to more hiphop & rap and this absolutely ensured I’d do just that. The lyricism is incredible and I’m a sucker for the transitions between the tracks. The songs are cohesive and memorable and I’m really fond of it. Definitely something I’ll revisit in the future
I want to give it a 4.5 honestly. Pink Floyd is one of those bands I’d tell myself to get into eventually but kept putting off. Welcome to the Machine was a personal favourite on this; huge sucker for all things industry commentary. I really enjoyed how despite the lyrical vagueness of the album overall, you still felt as if you were immersed in a sort of universe of its own kind. Big fan of the instrumentals. Add a half star system already..
I’m conflicted. I love the big production for about 15 seconds and then I get overwhelmed by it for another 15. I adore loud music for the most part but there’s so much going on in this. Love the piano though. I do think the production is great, albeit overdone, but it’s just so much I can’t listen to this as an album. I’d listen to Thunder Road by itself maybe or honestly most of the tracks on this, but I can’t revisit it as an album. I’m not a working class boomer or even American for that matter so this shouldn’t reaaaally resonate but I’ve always been drawn to music about running away and fighting for yourself with nothing to lose. I dunno. His vocals are great for a good 30 seconds and then he starts straight up shouting and I don’t know how I feel. I’d give it a 2.5 really, but then that feels mean because I actually do like it for a while. Such a strange piece of music..
I feel mean giving this a 2 because I didn’t hate it at all. It was just kinda nothing. Theres a few good tracks and I do enjoy the instrumentals but it’s just not really my thing and I probably wouldn’t seek it out again. It’s very fun though. If you put this on I’m not complaining
This is spectacular… I prefer the first half to the second to be honest but that last track is incredible. I would’ve given it a 4.5 on a half-star scale but I feel like rounding up. Reminds me a bit of the Cranberries but more mystical? Whatever. My First 5
The organ is fun. Hanging Around and Go Buddy Go were great. The misogyny is laughable, although I did enjoy Peaches a lot too. I liked this record and I might listen again someday but the first 2 tracks felt excruciatingly slow. Overall it’s good though, you can tell they don’t give much of a fuck and I like that lots. Guitar solo in Go Buddy Go is Delectable too
Ridiculously smooth. I like it. That’s about it.
It’s got a really pretty sound though, Cherry Pie is my personal favourite
I didn’t think I’d ever hand out a 1 star. This is music so devoid of any emotion that even my cousins who can only handle sanitized club music of a similar wavelength wouldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole. I didn’t think it was possible to make something so empty sounding
If you’d shown me this in 2018, I would’ve thought it was the deepest album of all time. It’s really bland. I wanted to like it because the album cover is gorgeous but there’s nothing that sets this apart from every other pop girl to me; I am seeing people say she pioneered this sound that’s so prevalent in pop music and while I applaud her for that, I’m also tired of the breathy sad indie girl vocals. The Louvre would’ve been better with some bigger production though.
