1001 Albums Summary

Really stark and beautiful. Long one of my favorite records.

Bluesy, which was nice, and some of the music is legitimately impressive and enjoyable, but the lyrics are boring and the vocals suck

The riff writhe around, and the guitar tone mixes with the synthesizer wonderfully. The man’s voice is very dorky, like the guy from Styx, and I always wanted to shove the guy from Styx into a locker

I ain’t built for this, the synths sound so weird and lyrics are so esoteric

The majority of the record is raw and filled with loathing, but the self-reflective parts are the ones that hurt to listen to

sullen girl is very depressing, the rest of the record is very lush and lovely

the album is inessential, the really only noteworthy track is the title track, which rips in parts of course. the vocals stink

Lovely guitar work throughout, and the production is grounded and real, but the songs lack hooks in spots and are somewhat samey

Awesome sample work, Beck at his best

Beautifully produced and performed, full of whimsy in spots, but in a full chested American way I suppose. Bruce I know has sharp lyrical ability, and his songs have depth and nuance, but I just couldn’t understand him at all, which coulda been just my shitty car speakers

really damn good album, kinda the first time he started to go off the rails. I cannot behind some of these instrumentals
